Table 1 Effect of natansnin on DPPH* radical scavenging activity

From: Protective efficacy of natansnin, a dibenzoyl glycoside from Salvinia natans against CCl4 induced oxidative stress and cellular degeneration in rat liver

Compound

% inhibition of radical scavenging activity

Butylated hydroxy toluene (BHT)

60.6

Natansnin

63.6

  1. Natansnin was screened for antioxidant activity using 2, 2'-di phenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging method. A known antioxidant butylated hydroxy toluene (BHT) was used as standard. The activity expressed as % inhibition of radical scavenging activity. While natansnin showed 60.6% of radical scavenging activity, BHT showed 63.6%.
